About the Role

The Area Industrial Market Sector Leader focuses on industrial projects and client management for key clients in Montana, identifying and developing project opportunities, serving as a pursuit champion, and overseeing large multi‑discipline or technically complex projects. The role also provides technical and project‑management support for other Resources Business Group initiatives, including power and waste markets. • Serve as client manager for key Montana clients, maintaining active industry visibility. • Promote HDR’s broader services alongside the Resources Business Group manager and Industrial Practice Leads. • Develop and deliver area market sector initiatives in partnership with the RBG manager. • Lead or support pursuit efforts through client relationship development, strategy formulation, and participation in pursuit activities. • Represent HDR in industry associations, deliver presentations, and engage in panel discussions. • Identify critical investments in skills, acquisitions, and technology to sustain industry leadership. • Build relationships with counterparts in other consulting firms within the Industrial sector. • Cultivate senior leadership connections at client organizations, both onsite and corporate. • Enhance practice capabilities to win new work and foster staff growth. • Lead and assist in recruiting future Industrial Sector practice talent. • Coordinate support across departments to ensure seamless project execution. • Drive technical excellence by collaborating with Resources Business Class Directors and Industrial Sector Practices. • Identify and develop new technical services and products to improve practice depth and efficiency. • Align staffing and recruiting plans with Industrial Sector Practice Leads, BD leads, RBG manager, and Area manager. • Support local leadership with onboarding of new hires. • Detect resource gaps and aid talent management and recruiting efforts. • Assist Area and RBG managers in delivering Industrial sector services, monitoring P&L, ensuring project delivery, and supporting QA/QC programs. • Facilitate cooperation and remove barriers to project success. • Implement process improvements and leverage work‑sharing to exceed goals with Area Business Group leadership. • Monitor staff workload, promote effective resource use, and apply expertise to projects. • Review contracts on key projects to manage risk, ensure proper staffing, and resolve claims. • Champion Quality Assurance/Quality Control, providing technical expertise to support marketing and project activities. • Distribute “lessons learned” across the Area and Industrial sector practice. • Undertake project management and technical assignments as needed. • Maintain an active profile in industry associations and the market sector.

What You Bring

• Hold a bachelor’s degree in engineering, planning, or a related field. • Possess at least 10 years of industry experience. • Demonstrate experience developing and managing strategic marketing programs for planning or engineering services. • Exhibit a strong track record of managing diverse client relationships and project pursuits. • Experience in staff development, including recruiting and career‑path planning. • Ability to collaborate with regional and area leadership across multiple business groups.
