About the Role

The director will create project status presentations, develop and update project plans covering objectives, technologies, schedules, funding, and staffing, and coordinate activities to meet deadlines while maintaining quality standards. Additionally, the role involves business development, cultivating strategic client relationships, and enhancing market presence in the Northwest region. • Lead multiple large‑scale, complex architectural projects from design through delivery. • Manage client expectations, multidisciplinary teams, and project scope, schedule, and budget. • Develop project status presentations and comprehensive project plans. • Coordinate planning studies to define project requirements and objectives. • Drive business development by cultivating strategic client relationships and expanding market presence in the Northwest region. • Represent Gensler at industry events, conferences, and through publications and social media. • Deliver projects across all phases, including planning, documentation, construction administration, and closeout. • Oversee design and construction of higher‑education, multi‑residential, and commercial workplace projects. • Coordinate full consultant teams (structural, mechanical, electrical, specialty) and ensure code compliance and sustainable design (LEED). • Develop fee proposals and comprehensive project schedules.

Gensler is seeking full‑time Project Directors in San Jose, CA to lead multiple large‑scale, complex architectural projects through design and delivery phases. The role requires strong project leadership and client‑relationship skills to expand the firm’s capabilities across projects of all scales and complexities. The director will work directly with senior management, facilities and project managers, and other stakeholders to conduct planning studies that define project requirements and objectives. The position also requires public speaking at industry events, delivering conference presentations, authoring publications, and promoting Gensler through social‑media channels. Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Architecture, Interior Design, or a related field and possess at least ten years of non‑internship design experience. Required experience includes driving project delivery across all phases, managing large‑scale higher‑education, multi‑residential, and commercial workplace projects, full consultant team coordination, code evaluation, sustainable design, and fee proposal development. • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Interior Design, or related field and at least 10 years of design experience.

Benefits

Standard benefits and performance‑based bonuses are offered, with a base salary range of $151,902 to $165,000, commensurate with experience. Incidental telecommuting may be applicable.
