About the Role

Key duties include identifying necessary tools, spotting safety risks, detecting machine issues, and assisting with disassembly, repair, and part replacement. The role also involves testing equipment, performing preventative maintenance on various mechanical systems, cleaning, lubricating, and conducting basic diagnostics using precision measuring instruments, as well as operating lathes, grinders, and handling equipment with cranes and rigging devices while following supervisor directions. • Identify required tools for tasks. • Identify safety risks and implement precautions. • Detect minor to major machine problems. • Disassemble, repair, or replace equipment parts. • Perform tests to ensure smooth machine operation. • Complete preventative maintenance on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyors, steam valves, coils, radiators, water softeners, heaters, pumps, and production machines. • Clean and lubricate machinery. • Conduct basic diagnostic tests and assess performance. • Use precision measuring instruments (rulers, calipers, micrometers) to check dimensional changes. • Operate engine lathes, grinders, and files. • Unload, inspect, and position equipment using cranes, hoists, dollies, rollers, and trucks. • Apply rigging and hoisting devices (chokers, chain falls, come‑a‑longs) to move materials. • Follow supervisor directions and perform other assigned duties. • Use arms/hands to handle tools and materials. • Work at heights, climb ladders, use fall protection. • Operate in all weather conditions with appropriate PPE.

What You Bring

The industrial helper position requires 1‑12 months of related experience, reliable transportation, and the ability to work as needed across all seven days. Candidates must follow instructions, meet all listed qualifications, possess the required tools, and be capable of handling the physical demands of industrial construction projects. Applicants should demonstrate strong problem‑solving skills, manual dexterity, and reading comprehension, and be effective team players capable of working independently with minimal supervision. Good communication with coworkers and supervisors and a commitment to Zachry’s values and safety regulations are essential. Preferred candidates are former or ROF’ed Zachry employees with prior industrial construction experience and formal or technical education. These qualifications are advantageous but not mandatory. The job demands extensive standing, walking, bending, lifting up to 50 lb, and the ability to work at heights and in all weather conditions while using appropriate fall protection and personal protective equipment such as hard hats, safety glasses, ear plugs, respirators, hi‑vis vests, gloves, and steel‑toed boots. • Minimum 1‑12 months industrial helper experience. • Ability to follow instructions and meet all qualifications. • Reliable transportation; available to work 7 days as needed. • Good problem‑solving ability. • Strong manual dexterity and aptitude. • Good reading comprehension. • Team player with ability to work independently. • Effective communication with coworkers and supervisors. • Zachry ROF’ed or former employee status (preferred). • Prior industrial construction experience (preferred). • Formal/technical education (preferred). • Stand, walk, bend, squat, sit, and lift frequently. • Communicate verbally and hear instructions. • Lift, carry, move up to 50 lb. • Wear hard hat, safety glasses/spoggles, ear plugs, respirator, hi‑vis vest, leather gloves, steel‑toed boots.
