About the Role

A Gate Attendant/Scale Operator is responsible for accurately and efficiently monitoring and recording waste volumes entering the post‑collection site. The role also includes collecting appropriate usage fees from customers. The attendant determines the content of material entering the facility to bill customers correctly and decides whether to accept or reject loads, suggesting alternatives for special or hazardous waste. Payments are received, receipts provided, and daily receipts are balanced before being deposited into the safe depository. Waste is documented using truck scales and computer systems, with total inbound volumes tracked. The attendant notifies operations of special loads, dispatches as needed, processes required paperwork, answers telephone inquiries, maintains work‑area cleanliness, and performs other assigned duties. • Determine waste content for billing and decide to accept or reject loads, suggesting alternatives for special waste. • Receive payments, provide receipts, and balance daily receipts before depositing them securely. • Document waste volumes using truck scales and computer systems, tracking total inbound waste. • Notify operations of special or hazardous loads, dispatch as needed, and complete required paperwork. • Answer telephone inquiries and provide general information to callers. • Maintain cleanliness of the work area and perform other assigned duties.
