About the Role

The Biostatistician II will work directly with Principal Investigators and research staff to ensure scientifically sound study designs, accurate data analysis, and high‑quality research documentation. Responsibilities include generating data outputs, performing quality control, and handling complex SAS programming issues while meeting project timelines. • Provide statistical support and advice to Principal Investigators for research proposals, IACUC/IRB protocols, manuscripts, and technical reports. • Develop scientifically sound study designs and write statistical sections of research protocols and reports. • Generate datasets, tables, figures, and listings using SAS or approved statistical programs. • Perform quality control checks and resolve complex SAS programming issues. • Conduct sample size and power calculations and select appropriate statistical analyses. • Author statistical analysis plans and create table, figure, and listing templates. • Assist with quality control of statistical analyses in presentations, manuscripts, and grant documents. • Train and mentor researchers on biostatistical best practices. • Collaborate with Principal Investigators to develop grant research proposals.

Parsons is seeking a Biostatistician II to support the Naval Medical Research Unit – San Antonio (NAMRU‑SA) and its collaborating institutions. NAMRU‑SA’s mission is to improve survival, operational readiness, and safety of DoD personnel engaged in routine and expeditionary operations. The role provides advanced statistical expertise for research projects, including authoring analysis plans, training researchers, and developing grant proposals. Candidates must hold a Master’s degree in Biostatistics (or a related field) with at least five years of research experience, or a PhD with one year of experience, and demonstrate proficiency with SAS or comparable statistical software. Strong communication, mentoring abilities, and the capacity to author statistical analysis plans are essential. No security clearance is required. • Hold a Master’s degree in Biostatistics (or related field) with ≥5 years research experience, or a PhD with ≥1 year experience. • Demonstrate proficiency with SAS or comparable statistical software. • Exhibit strong communication and mentoring skills for collaborative research environments. • No security clearance required for the position.
