About the Role
The engineer will work within a multidisciplinary team, applying civil engineering techniques throughout all project phases and ensuring coordination across design disciplines while meeting regulatory standards. • Lead and manage civil engineering projects, including budgeting, scheduling, and subcontractor supervision. • Develop construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates for roadways, intersections, and pedestrian facilities. • Coordinate design efforts with structural, hydraulic, traffic, and utility engineers. • Review and produce detailed layouts, sketches, plans, and technical reports. • Provide mentorship and training to entry‑level engineers. • Interface with clients, support business development, and assist in proposal preparation. • Maintain compliance with safety, quality, and ethical standards.

What You Bring
The ideal candidate will have a solid engineering background with significant civil design experience and demonstrate strong leadership, communication, and problem‑solving abilities. The position may require occasional travel and adherence to the company’s health, safety, and conduct policies. • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and a Professional Engineer license (or obtain within six months). • Possess 7–10 years of post‑degree civil design experience, familiar with AASHTO and VDOT standards. • Demonstrate advanced proficiency in MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer/Geopak, AutoCAD, and Civil 3D. • Exhibit strong interpersonal, communication, and problem‑solving skills. • Preferred: Master’s degree, experience with FHWA or National Park Service standards, and knowledge of design‑build or P3 delivery methods. • Ability to work a hybrid schedule (minimum three days onsite) and flexibility for project‑specific hours.
