About the Role
The Data Center Operating Engineer position works a rotating shift of Sunday‑Tuesday and every other Wednesday, from 6 pm to 6 am. This role is based on‑site in Chandler, AZ and focuses on delivering best‑practice systems and problem resolution for all data‑center electrical and mechanical infrastructure. You will be responsible for maintaining, monitoring, and performing preventive maintenance on building systems to achieve 100 % uptime, including fire and life‑safety, HVAC, chillers, CRAC, plumbing, controls, UPS, generators, switchgear, transformers, and hot‑water systems. Daily tasks involve recording readings, adjusting equipment, troubleshooting malfunctions, and ensuring safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials while maintaining a clean workplace. • Maintain and monitor all data center electrical and mechanical systems to ensure 100% uptime. • Perform preventive maintenance on fire/life safety, HVAC, chillers, CRAC, plumbing, controls, UPS, generators, switchgear, transformers, and hot‑water systems. • Record equipment readings, troubleshoot issues, and implement corrective actions. • Manage work orders using CMMS, coordinate with vendors, and handle customer tickets. • Follow emergency escalation procedures and hazardous material handling policies.

What You Bring
The role requires at least two years of experience in a data‑center or critical‑facility environment and solid knowledge of UPS systems, emergency generators, and switchgear. Strong verbal and written communication skills are needed, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and a CMMS (Corrigo experience is preferred). Desired certifications include Universal EPA 608 and NFPA 70E training. Physical requirements include frequent walking, climbing, bending, kneeling, lifting a minimum of 50 lb, and working at heights using ladders up to 30 ft with a 300‑lb weight limit. The position demands flexibility to work different schedules, holidays, and to respond to site emergencies.
