Application Support Specialist

About the Role

In this position you will own the operations, support, and continuous improvement of major enterprise industrial applications, leveraging at least five years of application support experience. You will proactively monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve issues using ITIL incident and change management practices while collaborating with vendors, product owners, cloud engineers, and security teams within an agile delivery model. • Ensure enterprise applications meet reliability and service level targets using ITIL practices. • Proactively monitor, triage incidents, troubleshoot, and manage application lifecycle. • Manage upgrades, deployments, and decommissioning in line with vendor roadmaps. • Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors, platform owners, and end‑users. • Create and update documentation, knowledge bases, and technical runbooks. • Provide on‑call support for critical after‑hours incidents. • Identify and implement automation opportunities for continuous service improvement. • Participate in agile design, build, test, and release cycles for platform enhancements. • Produce requirements, design documents, test plans, and as‑built artefacts. • Contribute technical expertise to cross‑functional agile teams and major programs. • Support architecture strategy by aligning changes with enterprise principles and roadmaps. • Collaborate with cyber security teams to maintain security baselines, patching, DR, IAM, and vulnerability management. • Deploy and support COTS vendor platforms and API‑driven architectures (SSIS, Azure Data Factory). • Manage Windows Server, IIS, Active Directory, Group Policy, and SCCM packaging. • Troubleshoot across middleware, infrastructure, and security layers.

What You Bring

The company is seeking an experienced Application Support Specialist for a 9‑month fixed‑term contract based at the Geelong refinery. This role is critical for keeping business‑critical applications running reliably, securely, and at peak performance, and offers the chance to work across complex platforms in a fast‑moving, future‑focused organisation. • 5+ years supporting large‑scale, 24/7 operational systems. • Hands‑on experience with SQL Server, Oracle, Azure SQL, and Dataverse. • Experience with Azure cloud services (app hosting, databases, virtualization). • Proficient in documentation tools (Confluence) and source control (Bitbucket). • Knowledge of ITIL incident/problem/change management. • Familiarity with both agile and waterfall delivery methodologies. • Strong stakeholder management and knowledge‑sharing skills. • Preferred: Power Platform and AVEVA PI system experience.
