About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead mechanical design of high‑performance buildings in a hybrid role at our Columbus office. The position offers senior technical leadership, the chance to mentor emerging talent, and responsibility for delivering complex HVAC and building systems across multiple project types. In the first year, the successful candidate will lead multiple mechanical design efforts, establish themselves as a trusted technical leader and mentor, and contribute to the delivery of energy‑efficient buildings across diverse markets. They will also help raise the consistency, clarity, and technical rigor of mechanical deliverables within the practice. • Lead mechanical system design from concept through construction administration, including calculations, specifications, reports, and drawings. • Act as mechanical discipline lead ensuring technical quality, code compliance (ASHRAE, IMC, IPC, IECC), and constructability. • Evaluate, select, and adapt mechanical equipment and materials using sound engineering judgment. • Coordinate design integration with architectural, structural, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and specialty disciplines. • Conduct site investigations, review shop drawings, RFIs, and submittals, and attend client and construction meetings. • Mentor junior engineers, review their work for accuracy and quality, and provide growth‑oriented feedback. • Identify skill gaps and support targeted training and knowledge‑sharing initiatives. • Contribute to proposal development with technical narratives, scope definition, and fee input. • Prepare technical reports and documentation for internal and external stakeholders. • Occasional travel for project‑related site visits.

What You Bring
A bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, at least six years of relevant experience, and a Professional Engineer license are required. Mechanical Engineering, 6+ years experience, PE license. • Preferred qualifications: 10+ years consulting or design‑build experience, strong knowledge of ASHRAE standards, LEED and sustainable design expertise, experience across federal, healthcare, laboratory, mission‑critical, and commercial markets. • Excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills; ability to lead multiple projects concurrently.
