About the Role

The Process Technician role at Viega in McPherson, KS is responsible for ensuring machines operate at peak levels of quality and efficiency. The technician drives continuous‑improvement initiatives and shares knowledge by training and motivating team members. In a leadership capacity, the technician provides guidance based on deep process and equipment expertise, develops and maintains training procedures, and may temporarily work other shifts to train new employees. Production duties include completing machine changeovers for production runs, monitoring machines against control plans, relieving operators, maintaining set‑up records, performing minor mechanical repairs, assembling equipment and tooling, responding to alarms, and safely shutting down equipment to meet scrap and OEE targets. The technician documents production information on daily boards, drives improvements through Viega’s continuous‑improvement process, suggests equipment and tooling enhancements, and leads root‑cause analysis with corrective actions. Tooling responsibilities involve inspecting tooling before and after runs, communicating issues, and performing preventative maintenance such as teardown, cleaning, greasing, visual inspection, and reassembly. Administrative tasks include maintaining documentation on processing and tooling issues, ensuring compliance with company policies, recommending procedural improvements, keeping a clean and safe work environment, and updating shift logs and QMS documents. Quality duties require processing and controlling non‑conformance defects, updating necessary records, and ensuring adherence to quality system procedures. The technician supports 6S workplace organization, performs daily cleaning and maintenance of the production area, machinery, tooling, and ensures proper storage of tooling. Additional responsibilities include attending operational and safety meetings, performing any other assigned duties, and being flexible to work different shifts as needed. • Operate and monitor machines to meet quality and efficiency specifications. • Perform changeovers, minor mechanical repairs, and equipment shutdowns. • Inspect, maintain, and perform preventative maintenance on tooling. • Train new employees, develop training procedures, and provide on‑shift leadership. • Document production data, update shift logs, and manage QMS records. • Drive continuous‑improvement projects and root‑cause analyses. • Ensure a clean, safe work environment through 6S practices. • Communicate production status daily via production boards. • Meet production scrap and OEE goals.

What You Bring

Desired knowledge, skills and abilities include familiarity with health‑ and safety policies, ability to follow written and verbal instructions, problem‑solving, prioritization, compliance with quality systems, proficiency in MS Office and SAP, strong organizational and communication skills, and the capacity to work with minimal supervision while maintaining a positive attitude. Benefits
