About the Role

The Opportunity: Join a team shaping the future of HVAC and energy systems across Ontario and beyond. You’ll work on institutional, commercial, and infrastructure projects that reduce energy use, improve comfort, and modernize essential systems. This role is ideal for early‑career engineers ready to own defined scopes while growing technical judgment in a collaborative environment. Your Impact includes performing site surveys and assessments to support mechanical design development, preparing design briefs, load calculations, ventilation sizing, and equipment selection for HVAC and energy systems. You will develop engineering calculations, technical reports, and construction documentation aligned with WSP standards and applicable codes, and collaborate closely with senior engineers, project managers, and multidisciplinary teams. You will review shop drawings, respond to RFIs, and support construction administration to ensure design intent is met, produce mechanical drawings and specifications in accordance with building codes and industry standards, and contribute to central plant and district energy system design, including system layouts and load coordination. Participation in client meetings, design team discussions, and proposal efforts (fee letters, RFP responses) is also expected. • Conduct site surveys and assessments for mechanical design. • Prepare design briefs, load calculations, ventilation sizing, and equipment selection for HVAC and energy systems. • Develop engineering calculations, technical reports, and construction documents per WSP standards and codes. • Review shop drawings, respond to RFIs, and support construction administration to ensure design intent. • Produce mechanical drawings and specifications aligned with building codes and industry standards. • Contribute to central plant and district energy system layouts and load coordination. • Participate in client meetings, design discussions, and proposal development (fee letters, RFP responses). • Apply Ontario Building Code, CSA, and ASHRAE guidelines daily.

What You Bring

The Skills That Set You Apart: a Mechanical Engineering degree with 3–7 years of hands‑on mechanical/HVAC design experience in consulting, proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, and engineering calculation tools, and progress toward P.Eng. licensure. Knowledge of the Ontario Building Code, CSA standards, and ASHRAE guidelines, plus experience delivering coordinated design packages independently, are essential. A collaborative mindset, strong client communication, and problem‑solving abilities are vital, with prior experience in educational, recreational, cultural, or sports facility design considered an asset. • Hold a Mechanical Engineering degree with 3–7 years of HVAC design experience. • Proficient in Revit, AutoCAD, and engineering calculation software. • Progressing toward P.Eng. licensure and committed to professional growth. • Collaborative mindset with strong client communication and problem‑solving skills. • Prior experience in educational, recreational, cultural, or sports facility design is a plus.
