Roll Grinder Operator

About the Role

• Ensure safety compliance and lead safety initiatives on the roll shop floor. • Perform mechanical and electrical troubleshooting of roll grinders during operation and maintenance. • Adjust machine alignments, track, choke and de‑choke rolls, and manage roll receiving. • Maintain housekeeping, quality standards, and maximize grinder uptime. • Support team development and customer service objectives. • Work rotating shifts and travel for training or company events.

What You Bring

Safety is the most important aspect of all Nucor jobs; candidates must demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times. Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, at least one year of sheet‑mill roll reconditioning experience, mechanical aptitude with precision measuring skills, and the ability to work rotating shifts and travel for training or company events. Preferred qualifications include technical knowledge of roll grinding, roll turning or roll shop operations, experience with Hercules roll grinders, automated roll shops, and mechanical, electrical or automation experience.
