About the Role
The successful candidate will manage projects and multidisciplinary design teams, control task budgets, develop staff competencies, and support business development by preparing commercial and technical responses. Professional qualification with ICE, CIHT, PW etc. is required. • Manage infrastructure projects and multidisciplinary design teams, controlling budgets and timelines. • Lead early‑stage optioneering and guide designs from feasibility through detailed design to commissioning. • Prepare commercial and technical proposals, supporting business development activities. • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety legislation and CDM regulations throughout design. • Apply project management expertise including procurement, risk, and technical assurance. • Conduct independent design checks and approvals using BIM and digital design tools. • Contribute to coaching, mentoring and development of junior staff (beneficial). • Participate in employee ownership, receiving stake, voice and performance bonuses. • Engage in professional development through institution subscriptions, mentoring and training. • Join employee networks supporting LGBTQ+, gender, race, disability and parents/carers communities.

What You Bring
Required experience includes early‑stage optioneering, full design lifecycle knowledge, leading infrastructure schemes through feasibility to operation, project management (procurement, risk, technical assurance) and full awareness of Health & Safety and CDM regulations. Practical skills needed are project management of multidisciplinary teams from bid to delivery, excellent verbal, written and presentation abilities, client‑facing confidence, experience on UK public‑sector infrastructure projects, competence to check and approve designs, and use of digital design tools including BIM. Beneficial but not essential attributes are technical coaching and mentoring, knowledge of contract preparation, procurement and risk management, and appreciation of operational and maintenance impacts of design solutions. • Demonstrate strong communication and client‑facing skills, including presentations and reports. • Hold professional engineering qualification (ICE, CIHT, PW, etc.). • Experience on UK public‑sector infrastructure projects is essential.
