Assistant Lab Manager
Assist Lab Manager with soils lab supervision, testing, safety, training and reporting.

About the Role
• Assist the Soils Lab Manager with supervision of all activities related to the soils laboratory and actively mentor and train lab staff. • Promote safety culture, ensure proper PPE use, and assist with required safety training. • Coordinate and schedule work for soils laboratory technicians. • Interpret test data and prepare reports or summaries. • Provide assistance to Project Managers, the Department Manager, and perform administrative duties as needed. • Calibrate soils laboratory equipment and maintain calibration schedules and records. • Assist with recruiting to maintain appropriate staff levels with supervisor approval. • Maintain inventory and organize required supplies and equipment. • Perform field and/or lab testing as needed. • Participate in business development, marketing, and client development. • Support compliance with corporate and office-specific Quality Management System policies, including adoption, implementation, and enforcement. • Help obtain and maintain soils lab‑testing certifications from external agencies and ensure technicians obtain the same. • Maintain an organized soils lab in compliance with QA/QC initiatives and accreditation requirements.

What You Bring
• 3+ years of related experience. • High school diploma or GED required. • Strong oral and written communication skills. • Good understanding of laboratory tests on construction materials and ability to evaluate results for specification compliance. • Knowledge of test methods, ASTM standards, and laboratory equipment. • Basic certifications per tech cert policy and necessary advanced certifications required. • Ability to interpret data and properly record collected information. • Dependable, self‑motivated, responsible, and detail‑oriented. • Ability to work effectively with clients, peers, supervisors, and independently. • Proficiency with computers, Microsoft Word, and Excel. • Must be able to frequently lift 60‑80 pounds. • Knowledge of ECS systems and procedures is a plus. • Basic knowledge of Quality Management Systems. • Valid driver's license required if driving for or on behalf of any ECS subsidiary.
