Site Engineer (Mine Waste)
Design and manage mine waste facilities, providing geotechnical engineering support.
Job Highlights
About the Role
• Provide specialised technical input for tailings management, heap leach, water impoundments, waste rock dumps, soil mechanics, geosynthetic engineering and related civil works worldwide. • Work with multidisciplinary teams from conceptual through detailed design and engineering. • Manage project involvement including time, budget and quality control, assisting project managers in delivery. • Prepare technical reports, drawings, specifications, bills of quantities and cost estimates. • Travel domestically and internationally, with overnight stays as required, to support clients and construction of WSP designs. • Build and maintain relationships with new and existing clients, representing WSP on site. • Collaborate with the Mining Team network across national and international specialists, attending meetings as needed. • Mentor and coach graduate‑level team members. • Contribute to business development by preparing technical proposals. • Uphold WSP’s values, Code of Conduct, health and safety standards and Equality Policy.

What You Bring
• Hold a degree in civil, geotechnical engineering or engineering geology with strong soil mechanics focus. • Demonstrate knowledge of national and international design guidelines and regulations for mining waste facilities. • Possess mining and geotechnical experience related to waste disposal facilities. • Ability to interpret monitoring results, use design tools for geotechnical structures and support client operational needs. • Experience in project management and consultancy, including client relationship and team support. • Strong teamwork and communication skills. • Willingness to travel to UK, international and remote locations.
