About the Role

The fire alarm designer works without direct supervision to create accurate fire alarm system designs and submittal packages that meet project requirements. This role provides detailed information and submittals to customers, consultants, the fire install/sales/management team, and subcontractors. Key duties include organizing workload, guiding less‑experienced designers, reviewing medium‑complexity designs for code compliance, coordinating with CAD Support Technicians for detailed schematics and calculations, developing bills of material, and supporting project managers with order and margin activities. The designer also participates in design meetings, answers technical questions, assists with commissioning, mentors technical staff, and monitors project hours for accurate coding. • Design accurate fire alarm system drawings and submittal packages per project requirements. • Lead and review medium‑complexity designs, delivering code‑compliant, value‑engineered solutions. • Coordinate with CAD Support Technicians to produce detailed schematics, calculations, and bills of material. • Perform system calculations to verify compliance with fire codes and standards. • Participate in pre‑ and post‑project meetings, including customer and site coordination. • Support Project Managers with order processing and margin improvement. • Provide technical answers to customers, contractors, and authorities having jurisdiction. • Assist in system commissioning to confirm performance matches design specifications. • Mentor CAD Support Technicians and oversee their deliverables. • Monitor project hours to ensure accurate coding and alignment with estimates.

What You Bring

Applicants must be located on‑site in Toronto (ON), Montreal (QC) or Delta (BC) and have a minimum of three years fire‑alarm design experience, knowledge of Canadian fire‑alarm codes, and strong technical aptitude. Advanced skills in AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, Salesforce, MS Teams, Adobe Acrobat and BlueBeam are required, along with excellent communication and organizational abilities; CFAA certification is preferred. The position offers an hourly range of $35.57‑$48.55 plus a competitive benefits package. • Require 3+ years fire‑alarm design experience and knowledge of Canadian fire‑alarm codes. • Proficient in AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, Salesforce, MS Teams, Adobe Acrobat, and BlueBeam. • Strong communication and organizational abilities; CFAA membership preferred. • On‑site position located in Toronto, ON; Montreal, QC; or Delta, BC.
