About the Role

The Principal Fire Protection Engineer acts as a technical advisor for fire protection, fire and gas detection, and process safety studies, bringing expertise in designing systems for conceptual, FEED, and detailed stages of medium to large projects across oil & gas, hydrocarbons, and infrastructure sectors. Key responsibilities include developing fire water design reports, performing hydraulic and transient analyses, preparing detailed P&IDs and layout drawings for fire water, foam, and safety equipment, and producing comprehensive fire & gas philosophy and detection documentation. • Develop fire water basis of design reports and perform fire water, foam water, and water spray demand calculations. • Create P&IDs and layout drawings for fire water networks, foam systems, hazardous areas, and safety equipment. • Conduct steady‑state hydraulic and transient analyses for fire protection water systems. • Prepare fire & gas philosophy, detection layouts, block diagrams, cause‑and‑effect and 3‑D mapping studies. • Design emergency escape routes, safety signage, showers, and equipment layouts (SCBA, extinguishers, windsocks). • Produce equipment data sheets, specifications, and hazardous equipment schedules. • Generate third‑party scope documents (EIA, PHA) and evaluate technical bids and vendor requisitions. • Review and support safety study reports such as HAZID, HAZOP, SIL, LOPA, QRA and track action items. • Develop material take‑offs (MTOs), construction scope documents, and attend 3‑D model review meetings. • Establish process safety discipline budgets and estimate man‑hours for proposals.

What You Bring

The role collaborates closely with project management, discipline managers, team leaders, and clients, requiring at least a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Fire Engineering or a related field and a minimum of 15 years of relevant engineering experience. Technical competencies encompass strong engineering fundamentals, proficiency in hydraulic software such as Pipenet and Elite, thorough knowledge of NFPA, International Fire Code, Saudi Aramco standards, and excellent communication and leadership skills, with preferred professional certifications like PE, CFPS, and functional safety credentials. • Minimum 15 years of engineering experience in upstream oil & gas or petrochemical facilities. • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Fire Engineering or related field. • Proficiency with hydraulic calculation software (e.g., Pipenet, Elite) and strong P&ID/PFD development skills. • In‑depth knowledge of International Fire Code, NFPA, Saudi Aramco standards, and Saudi Building Code. • Excellent written and verbal communication, technical presentation, and team‑leadership abilities. • Preferred certifications: Professional Engineer (PE), Certified Fire Protection Specialist (CFPS), HAZOP, Functional Safety, SCE.
