About the Role
The Mechanical and Electrical (MEP) Engineer will manage, evaluate, and assess information related to mechanical and electrical systems to ensure the project is completed on time, safely, within budget, and to the quality specified in the contract documents. The role includes leading the project team and subcontractors, preparing and managing contract items, updating schedules, processing RFIs, overseeing budgets and change orders, and mentoring Assistant MEP Engineers. Collaboration with the VDC Engineer, MEP Superintendent, and other stakeholders ensures coordination, conflict resolution, and compliance with design, operations, and quality standards throughout installation, startup, testing, commissioning, and closeout. • Lead the project team, subcontractors, and owner representatives to align and install mechanical and electrical systems efficiently. • Prepare and manage the contract items list, ensuring ROJ dates meet the project schedule and approval requirements. • Participate in schedule update meetings and provide current information for accurate planning. • Evaluate and manage the processing of RFIs. • Oversee the budget, review and negotiate change orders, and monitor subcontractor financial status. • Supervise, coach, and mentor Assistant MEP Engineers. • Co‑lead MEP coordination with the VDC Engineer to ensure design compliance, operational readiness, and quality standards. • Develop scope of work documents assigning responsibilities for trades and temporary operations. • Collaborate with the MEP Superintendent to resolve mechanical/electrical conflicts with site logistics and schedule. • Co‑lead the turnover process, including startup, testing, commissioning, and closeout. • Conduct regular walkthroughs to verify work matches contract documents, coordination drawings, and approved submittals. • Notify field staff of challenging installation requirements to enable proper planning. • Secure municipal and agency documentation for temporary certificates and system operation. • Create and implement a quality control plan with the MEP Superintendent. • Provide leadership that fosters a high‑performing team. • Perform physical tasks including climbing stairs/ladders, lifting up to 50 lb, and meeting vision and mobility requirements. • Work on‑site in environments with moving parts, heights, fumes, weather exposure, noise, and electrical shock risk.

What You Bring
Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and have at least four years of relevant engineering experience, or an equivalent combination of education and training, with strong technical knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, business acumen, communication skills, and the ability to lead high‑performing teams. The role requires occasional physical tasks such as climbing stairs or ladders, lifting up to 50 lb, and possessing specific vision abilities. Work is performed on construction sites where employees are exposed to moving mechanical parts, heights, fumes, weather conditions, noise, and potential electrical hazards. • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with at least four years of relevant experience (or equivalent). • Demonstrate technical expertise in mechanical and electrical systems across diverse project types. • Exhibit strong business acumen, communication, organization, and computer proficiency.
