Software Engineer/Certified Scrum Master

About the Role

In this hybrid role based in Taylor, TX, you will lead the Agile journey for a high‑impact development squad while remaining an active contributor to the codebase. You will spend roughly 80% of your time on Scrum facilitation and team coaching, and the remaining time developing robust back‑end solutions using Java and modern frameworks. Key responsibilities include leading all Scrum ceremonies, proactively removing technical and process impediments, partnering with the Product Owner to refine the backlog, and tracking team performance with metrics such as velocity and burndown charts. You will also mentor the team on self‑organization, continuous improvement, and modern Agile/DevOps practices. You will manage all phases of the SDLC, from requirements gathering through design, implementation, testing, deployment, and maintenance, and implement development frameworks such as Agile, Waterfall, or DevOps to meet project timelines and quality standards. Overseeing comprehensive testing strategies—including unit, integration, and user acceptance testing—and streamlining delivery through CI/CD pipelines using tools like GitHub, GitLab, or Jenkins are also required. As a Java developer, you will design, develop, and maintain scalable back‑end services with Java 17/21+ and Spring Boot, lead by example in Test‑Driven Development, conduct code reviews, and ensure a high standard for the Definition of Done. You will support and optimize Jenkins/GitLab CI pipelines, collaborate on architectural discussions, and ensure technical feasibility aligned with long‑term product goals. • Lead daily stand‑ups, sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives. • Identify and eliminate technical and process impediments to maintain high velocity. • Partner with Product Owner to refine backlog and track metrics such as velocity and burndown. • Coach the team on self‑organization, continuous improvement, and Agile/DevOps adoption. • Manage the full software development life cycle from requirements to maintenance. • Implement and optimize development frameworks (Agile, Waterfall, DevOps). • Oversee testing strategies: unit, integration, and user acceptance testing. • Manage CI/CD pipelines using GitHub, GitLab, or Jenkins. • Design, develop, and maintain scalable back‑end services with Java 17/21+ and Spring Boot. • Practice Test‑Driven Development and conduct thorough code reviews. • Optimize Jenkins/GitLab pipelines for frequent, high‑quality releases. • Participate in architecture discussions to ensure technical feasibility.

What You Bring

Required qualifications include a mandatory Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or PSM I/II certification, at least five years of software development experience with three years in a formal Scrum Master or Lead Developer role, deep proficiency in Java, Spring, Hibernate/JPA, and microservices, and expert knowledge of Jira and Confluence. Hands‑on experience with Git, Maven/Gradle, and containerization (Docker/Kubernetes) is also expected. Preferred skills are experience with front‑end technologies such as React or Angular, cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP, familiarity with Scaled Agile Frameworks (SAFe) or Kanban, and strong conflict‑resolution and active‑listening abilities to foster psychological safety. A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field (or equivalent experience) is required, with a base pay range of $63.38‑$74.65.
