About the Role
The Water business in the UK and Ireland is experiencing unprecedented growth, and AECOM is looking for a Capture Lead / Bid Director to join its Strategy and Growth team. This role will drive the capture, positioning, and successful bidding of major contracts, shaping winning solutions through strategic positioning and early client collaboration. The Capture Lead will own AECOM’s largest and most strategic bids, typically exceeding £35 million in revenue, guiding multidisciplinary teams through all pursuit stages. Responsibilities include defining execution strategies, selecting partners, managing risk and pricing, and delivering compelling propositions across regulated water, strategic resource options, and climate resilience sectors. • Drive growth by shaping and capturing new business and renewal opportunities within priority water accounts. • Develop and execute holistic capture plans, including client listening, win‑strategy development, solution shaping, and marketing coordination. • Build and maintain a diversified pipeline of qualified opportunities using data‑led insights to prioritize high‑value pursuits. • Lead the full sales lifecycle from early capture through PQQ, ITT, BAFO, interviews, and post‑bid debriefs. • Influence early opportunity scope, delivery models, and commercial structures through proactive market engagement. • Identify, select, and manage strategic partnerships, joint ventures, and consortiums to strengthen competitive position. • Foster senior‑level client relationships and lead executive engagement during pre‑procurement and procurement phases. • Set strategic commercial direction for major pursuits, including risk appetite, pricing, and value proposition. • Provide senior challenge and assurance to ensure solutions are deliverable, differentiated, and commercially sound. • Guide bid team members, technical writers, and internal stakeholders to align resources and maintain clear pursuit priorities.

What You Bring
• Proven experience leading teams to win major water utility contracts, typically > $35 million in revenue. • Strong technical and delivery background with ability to translate client drivers into differentiated bid solutions. • Excellent communication and leadership skills, including facilitation of workshops with diverse stakeholder groups. • Demonstrated expertise in partner‑led delivery models, alliances, joint ventures, and complex multi‑party arrangements. • Credibility operating at executive and board level within client, partner, and internal senior leadership environments.
