About the Role

In this position you will be responsible for the operation, commissioning, maintenance, and continuous improvement of automated systems used in port and terminal operations. You will collaborate closely with operations, maintenance, IT, and OEM partners to ensure that automation systems operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulatory and safety requirements. • Support commissioning, testing, and fault diagnosis of automation and electrical systems • Maintain and troubleshoot PLCs, drives, sensors, and communication networks • Assist with automation upgrades, trials, and technology evaluations • Ensure compliance with WHS, electrical safety legislation, and site procedures • Collaborate with operations and maintenance teams to minimise downtime • Support documentation, change management, and system integrity checks • Participate in investigations of system faults and reliability issues • Perform system integration maintenance and troubleshooting • Support systems including Automated Stacking Cranes (ASC), Quay Cranes (QC), Intelligent Guided Vehicles (IGV), PLC‑based control systems, industrial networks, and emerging technologies such as LiDAR‑based safety, 5G, and sensing systems

What You Bring

DP World Brisbane is currently seeking an experienced Automation and Electrical Systems Specialist to support the safe, reliable, and compliant operation of advanced automation technologies within a major port and terminal environment. The role is ideal for professionals from electrical trades or engineering backgrounds who have strong experience in automation, control systems, and industrial technology. Candidates will work with cutting‑edge systems such as LiDAR, PLCs, automated cranes, and intelligent vehicle systems. • Minimum five years’ experience with industrial automation or control systems • Experience with PLCs, drives, sensors, and industrial communications (including 5G signalling) • Strong fault‑finding and problem‑solving capability • Ability to work safely in high‑risk operational environments • Good communication skills and ability to work across disciplines • Experience in ports, terminals, heavy industry, mining or manufacturing (highly regarded) • Experience with commissioning, trials or new technology deployment (e.g., LiDAR, vision systems) and knowledge of industrial IT/OT networks (highly regarded)
