About the Role
The General Manager leads one of the Company’s Business Units with full profit and loss responsibility, operating within a matrix management environment. This role oversees an infrastructure team that includes division-level managers for Operations, Fleet Management, Sales, Finance, Human Resources, Safety and Environmental Compliance, and Environmental Engineering, all supporting the unit’s overall operation. Key responsibilities include executing a local market strategy that aligns with the Area’s broader strategic and marketing plans, driving functional excellence and achieving budget targets. The General Manager manages collection and post‑collection operations such as transfer stations, landfills, and recycling centers, represents the Company to customers, vendors, and municipal stakeholders, and ensures robust safety and compliance programs across environmental, regulatory, and ethical standards. • Lead Business Unit with full profit and loss responsibility. • Manage infrastructure team covering operations, fleet, sales, finance, HR, safety, and environmental engineering. • Execute local market strategy aligned with area’s strategic plans to achieve functional excellence and budget goals. • Oversee collection and post‑collection operations including transfer stations, landfills, and recycling centers. • Represent the Company to customers, vendors, municipal clients, and external stakeholders. • Ensure effective safety programs and compliance with environmental, regulatory, and ethical standards. • Drive change management initiatives to implement and sustain new processes for growth. • Partner with Area and Region sales to meet growth objectives across commercial, industrial, residential, and municipal segments. • Build and maintain relationships with government, community, and environmental groups. • Lead large‑scale change initiatives and direct large staff of functional experts. • Build and develop high‑performing sales teams.

What You Bring
The position requires demonstrated business acumen, strategic thinking, and the ability to lead large‑scale change initiatives. Candidates must be capable of directing large teams of functional experts, building high‑performing sales teams, and fostering collaborative, ethical work environments while applying strong analytical and decision‑making skills. Minimum qualifications are a high school diploma or GED, at least three years of progressive leadership and management experience, and a minimum of three years of profit and loss management experience.
