About the Role
The role is responsible for onboarding, developing, coaching, mentoring, and managing the performance of all drivers and helpers. It involves establishing and maintaining positive relationships with front‑line employees and spending the majority of the day in the field alongside them. The incumbent ensures that new frontline employees receive the tools, instruction, and feedback needed for daily duties, holds daily meetings to maintain consistent communication, and provides regular touchpoints to support ongoing performance. They review best practices, focus on employee career goals, identify improvement opportunities, and collaborate with staff to drive success. Safety is a core focus; the leader models safe practices, teaches the WM Way, conducts root‑cause investigations for injuries and incidents, and ensures consistent discipline and retraining. They also document and maintain records required by regulatory agencies such as the DOT, and audit route‑operation documentation daily, following up as needed. • Onboard, coach, mentor, and manage performance of drivers and helpers. • Provide tools, instruction, and daily feedback to new frontline employees. • Conduct daily meetings with new employees for consistent communication. • Maintain regular touchpoints to support ongoing performance. • Review and implement best practices to enhance daily operations. • Identify improvement opportunities and collaborate on solutions. • Practice coaching conversations and seek feedback. • Model and enforce safety practices, teaching the WM Way. • Conduct root‑cause investigations for injuries and incidents, applying discipline and retraining. • Document and maintain regulatory records, including DOT requirements. • Audit daily route‑operation documentation (DVIRs, time, attendance, tickets) and follow up as needed. • Visit customers and sites to evaluate and resolve safety issues and explore service alternatives. • Work in a hybrid office/field setting, using standard office equipment.

What You Bring
Required qualifications include an accredited associate’s degree or a high school diploma with two years of relevant experience, being at least 18 years old, legal eligibility to work in the country, and a valid driver’s license. Preferred qualifications include successful completion of the WM Operations Manager Trainee program. The position operates in a hybrid office and plant/field environment, requiring standard office equipment and occasional physical demands.
