About the Role
The Assistant Superintendent manages project labor, oversees craft workers' certifications, participates in site orientation, first‑hour orientation, and safety meetings, and coordinates timecard approval, hiring, and dismissal processes while ensuring on‑site operations align with scope, schedule, and equipment needs. They support Project Managers in schedule development and updates, verify material quantity takeoffs during the buyout phase, manage Production and Innovation Boards as well as daily Plan‑of‑Day activities, and assist Safety Managers with audits and observations. • Manage craft labor and subcontractors on project sites. • Review and approve weekly labor reports and craft worker certifications. • Conduct site orientation, first‑hour orientation, and safety meetings. • Process and approve craft worker timecards; hire and dismiss personnel. • Coordinate on‑site operations, equipment, labor, and schedule execution. • Guide set‑up, work‑in‑place, and project close‑out/demobilization activities. • Assist Project Managers with schedule development and updates. • Arrange equipment from internal facilities and external providers (e.g., cranes, trailers). • Verify material quantity takeoffs during buyout for specific scopes. • Manage Production and Innovation Boards and daily Plan‑of‑Day activities. • Support safety audits, worker observations, and quality control of self‑perform and subcontractor work. • Oversee orientation, training, and performance evaluations of craft workers. • Ensure compliance with Mortenson policies, construction law, and EEO/affirmative action guidelines.

What You Bring
Mortenson is seeking an experienced Assistant Superintendent to coordinate and supervise subcontractors and craft team members within a specific construction discipline. Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in Construction, Civil/Architectural Engineering, Construction Management or have equivalent experience, possess at least three years of construction management experience, a valid driver’s license, and basic knowledge of construction law and Microsoft Office, with preferred electrician training and the ability to handle multiple complex projects from development through closeout. • Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Civil/Architectural Engineering, Construction Management or equivalent experience. • Minimum 3 years of construction management or related experience. • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel up to 100%. • Preferred: Completion or interest in Master, Journeyman, or Apprentice electrician program. • Electrical circuitry qualification or ability to be qualified by Mortenson Electrical Managers. • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and relevant web applications. • Strong customer service, communication, active listening, and positive professional attitude.
