About the Role
Mortenson is currently seeking a Safety Coordinator who will assist with the implementation and administration of Mortenson’s Zero Injury Safety Program on the project site. This role supports ensuring a safe work environment by engaging craft work crews to identify risks, plan hazard‑mitigation strategies, verify the availability of tools and equipment required for safe work execution, and reinforce our proactive culture of care. The Safety Coordinator assists crew members with daily paperwork, including pre‑task planning cards, standard work instructions, dig permits, hot‑work permits, trench and rigging inspections, operator certifications, and equipment inspections. They conduct job‑site safety audits, maintain PPE inventory, and manage safety provisions such as spill kits, first‑aid kits, fire extinguishers, barricades, chemical labeling and signage. The role also coordinates waste disposal, engages supervisors and crews to correct hazards, exercises stop‑work authority when needed, and delivers site‑specific training and orientations while interpreting Mortenson policies for employees and partners. • Assist crews with daily paperwork (pre‑task plans, permits, inspections, certifications). • Conduct and document job‑site safety audits. • Maintain PPE inventory and distribute equipment to crews. • Audit and manage safety provisions (spill kits, first‑aid kits, fire extinguishers, barricades, chemical labeling, signage). • Coordinate hazardous waste disposal and on‑site chemical inventory. • Engage supervisors and crews to correct hazards; exercise stop‑work authority as needed. • Deliver site‑specific training and first‑day/first‑hour orientations. • Interpret and communicate Mortenson policies to employees and partners.

What You Bring
Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED, at least three years of industry trade experience with one year at Mortenson, and OSHA 30‑Hour Construction training. A current valid driver’s license is required. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship; Mortenson does not sponsor employment visas. • Hold a high school diploma or GED, OSHA 30‑Hour construction certification, and a valid driver’s license. • Have at least three years of industry trade experience, including one year with Mortenson.

The base pay range for this role is $59,300 to $80,000, with higher ranges for certain locations such as Denver, Chicago, Seattle, Portland, and Washington, D.C. Base pay is positioned within the range based on knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity, and the position is eligible for Mortenson’s incentive plan.
