About the Role

You will be part of the national fluvial and pluvial modelling team that supports flood‑warning improvements, strategic infrastructure projects and FCERM studies across energy, transport, government and water sectors. The role also connects with WSP’s international Practice Area Network on flood and weather forecasting. If you are ready to work on landmark projects, develop innovative flood‑forecasting solutions and build a lasting legacy, apply today. • Provide technical delivery and leadership for flood forecast modelling and hydrology studies, including development of Flood Modeller models, hydrology boundaries, performance testing, and rating reviews. • Conduct quality assurance and independent technical reviews of existing flood forecasting reports and products. • Produce high‑quality client‑ and public‑facing deliverables, communicating and visualising complex data effectively. • Collaborate with fluvial and pluvial modelling leadership to enhance the flood forecasting service offering. • Mentor and support less‑experienced flood forecasting modellers. • Support and lead high‑quality bid proposals, creating innovative solutions to meet client needs. • Manage project, commercial, and financial aspects of assignments. • Engage with clients and stakeholders through proactive liaison. • Promote a “safety first” attitude in line with WSP health and safety policies. • Collaborate with global WSP teams while primarily working from the UK.

What You Bring

• Demonstrate strong knowledge of UK flood forecasting techniques, rating review, Flood Modeller, PDM and performance testing with proven real‑time modelling experience. • Experience conducting reviews and calculations for UK statutory bodies such as EA, SEPA, NRW, or DfI. • Exhibit commercial awareness and a track record of identifying business opportunities and preparing winning proposals. • Understand client needs, lead initiatives, and secure work successfully. • Possess excellent interpersonal, influencing, and communication skills at all levels. • Show strong report‑writing, technical review, numerical and analytical abilities with attention to detail. • Hold chartered status with a relevant professional body or commit to achieving it within an agreed period. • Experience in non‑real‑time modelling is an advantage.
