About the Role

The Cost Accountant reports to the Controller and is responsible for accurate cost and inventory financial information, supporting decision‑making through cost accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and continuous‑improvement initiatives. The role collaborates with Operations, Procurement, Finance, and corporate teams and is based in the Candiac office. • Maintain and update standard costs, rate models, and overhead allocation methods. • Analyze production, material price, labor, and overhead variances and manufacturing efficiencies. • Prepare, analyze, and post costing runs in SAP ERP. • Coordinate material price, production activity, and overhead rate updates with Accounting, Operations, Procurement, and Master Data teams. • Advise on Bill of Materials and routing structures for accurate product costing. • Monitor inventory records, investigate and resolve discrepancies, and post complex inventory transactions. • Support periodic physical inventory counts, perform variance analysis, and report results. • Prepare and analyze monthly and quarterly financial statements on schedule. • Reconcile general ledger accounts and investigate variances. • Post journal entries related to cost accounting, inventory, and month‑end close. • Assist month‑end, quarter‑end, and year‑end close processes and audit requests. • Participate in annual budgeting and forecasting, preparing planned costs and variance analysis. • Provide costing estimates, financial analysis, and ad‑hoc reporting to support business decisions. • Contribute to cross‑functional projects to improve financial processes, controls, and reporting quality. • Manage priorities and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment. • Maintain high ethical standards, confidentiality, and data integrity. • Participate in a company share‑purchase program with a 25% company contribution match.

What You Bring

• Hold a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA designation preferred. • Bring 5+ years of progressive accounting or cost accounting experience, preferably in manufacturing. • Demonstrate strong SAP ERP and Microsoft Excel proficiency. • Communicate fluently in English and French, both spoken and written. • Exhibit strong analytical, problem‑solving, organizational, and attention‑to‑detail skills. • Work collaboratively across functions with a team‑oriented mindset while able to work independently.
