About the Role
A day in the life includes collaborating with project coordinators, managers, senior directors, technical leads and field technicians; preparing health‑and‑safety and emergency‑response plans; training junior staff in environmental practices such as Phase I/II ESAs, drilling, surveying and groundwater sampling; compiling data and writing reports with conclusions and recommendations; and supporting other RPM team members in project management and client service duties. Field work occurs in remote locations during two programmes (winter and summer), typically on a schedule of about two weeks on‑site followed by two weeks off, with a maximum of three shifts. • Plan and prepare two annual field programmes, including health and safety and emergency response plans. • Participate in remote field work during winter and summer shifts, typically two weeks on‑site followed by two weeks off. • Train junior staff on environmental practices such as Phase I/II ESAs, drilling, surveying, and groundwater sampling. • Compile data, write reports and provide conclusions and recommendations after each field programme. • Collaborate with project coordinators, managers, senior directors, technical leads and field technicians. • Support RPM team members in project management, health and safety, and client service responsibilities. • Apply technical troubleshooting skills to ensure environmental data meet project objectives.

What You Bring
We are expanding and seeking an engineer or environmental scientist with 4‑6 years of experience to join our multi‑disciplinary team that solves complex issues for clients throughout the Northern Canada territories. The role involves planning and preparing two annual field programmes, participating in the field work, and preparing reports after each programme. What you’ll bring: a university degree or diploma in engineering or natural/earth sciences; 4‑6 years of field experience in contaminated‑site assessments; experience working in remote or camp settings (territories experience is a strong asset); a safety‑conscious attitude and solid understanding of health‑and‑safety procedures; strong technical troubleshooting skills; and preferably a professional designation or status as a professional‑in‑training. Health and safety is a core paramount value; all employees must comply with WSP’s Health, Safety & Environment policy and client HSE policies, especially for safety‑sensitive field positions that require physical capabilities to work in remote, isolated or inclement conditions. • Hold a degree in engineering or natural/earth sciences and 4‑6 years of contaminated‑site field experience. • Demonstrate a safety‑conscious attitude and understanding of workplace health and safety procedures. • Possess experience working in remote or camp settings; territories experience is a strong asset. • Hold or be in training for a professional designation (preferred).
