About the Role

Drivers operate heavy‑duty trucks equipped with front, side, or rear‑end lift attachments, transporting waste or recyclable materials to disposal, transfer, or recycling facilities once legal load capacity is reached. They handle containers that can exceed 1,000 pounds, requiring skilled backing maneuvers while navigating high‑traffic roadways, driveways, alleys, and lot areas. Roles include commercial drivers who perform pick‑up services, residential drivers who collect household waste, and roll‑off drivers who load and move large open‑top containers, often in tight industrial environments. The role requires strict adherence to WM safety policies, OSHA, and DOT regulations, along with completing pre‑ and post‑trip vehicle inspections and DVIR documentation. Drivers must promptly report unsafe conditions, incidents, or service interruptions, attend all scheduled trainings, and work closely with the Operations Manager to enhance route efficiency. They also handle customer requests, ensure receptacles are dumped cleanly without debris, follow assigned routes, complete end‑of‑day paperwork, and assist fellow drivers as needed. • Operate vehicles in compliance with WM safety policies, OSHA and DOT regulations. • Perform pre‑ and post‑trip vehicle inspections and complete DVIR reports. • Immediately report unsafe conditions, incidents, accidents, or service interruptions. • Attend all required trainings, briefings, and meetings. • Collaborate with Operations Manager to improve route efficiency and best practices. • Communicate customer requests and service issues to dispatch or management. • Dump receptacles cleanly and leave sites free of debris. • Follow assigned routes, complete end‑of‑day documentation, and check out. • Assist other drivers as needed to meet customer needs.

What You Bring

Applicants need at least one year of experience operating a vehicle requiring a CDL or equivalent military driving experience within the past seven years, must be 18 years or older, and legally authorized to work in the country. A valid Class A or Class B CDL with an air‑brake endorsement is required, while a high school diploma or GED is preferred. The position involves physical demands such as standing, walking, lifting, pushing, pulling, crouching, reaching, handling, sitting, talking, and hearing. • Hold a valid Class A or B CDL with an air‑brake endorsement and at least one year of driving experience. • Be at least 18 years old and legally eligible to work in the United States or Canada. • Preferred: High school diploma or GED. • Physical tasks include standing, walking, lifting, pushing, pulling, crouching, reaching, handling, sitting, talking, and hearing.
