About the Role

The role includes supervising scaffold builders, constructing stairs and walkways, and ensuring scaffolding structures and fixtures made of wood, plywood, and metal are correctly erected, installed, and repaired. The employee must read and interpret prints, drawings, and plans, and use hand and power tools for layout, measurement, cutting, and material arrangement. When required, crane and rigging hand signals are performed, and familiarity with industrial scaffold tools and materials is essential. • Provide industrial scaffold leadership and supervise scaffold builders • Construct, erect, install, and repair wood, plywood, and metal scaffolding structures • Build stairs and walkways • Read and interpret prints, drawings, and plans • Use hand and power tools to layout, measure, mark, cut, and arrange materials • Perform crane/rigging hand signals when applicable • Operate industrial scaffold tools and handle scaffold materials • Communicate inspection concerns and walk‑down findings • Uphold Zachry’s safety values and regulations • Maintain reliable transportation • Follow safety practices for operating equipment • Use arms and hands to signal, grasp, turn, push, and pull tools and materials • Lift, carry, and move objects safely • Work at heights, climb ladders, and operate from platforms as needed • Work in all weather conditions, including hot, cold, and occasional rain • Operate at various elevations with moderate to high noise levels • Navigate job sites containing light to heavy equipment, vehicles, and tools

What You Bring

ZACHRY is hiring an experienced NCCER‑certified Industrial Journeyman Scaffold Builder for a maintenance role at Exxon BMT in Beaumont, Texas. Candidates must hold a valid driver’s license and the position does not include per‑diem compensation. The primary work involves erecting and dismantling industrial scaffolding. Essential qualifications include strong mechanical aptitude, knowledge of tube‑lock and pin‑lock scaffold systems, and experience with industrial machinery, hand tools, and power tools. The candidate must be able to communicate inspection findings, manage time effectively, demonstrate manual dexterity and reading comprehension, and work well as a team player. Commitment to Zachry’s safety values, reliable transportation, and knowledge of safety practices for operating equipment are also required. Preferred but not mandatory attributes are prior employment with Zachry, four to five years of industrial maintenance experience, and training from vocational schools or equivalent on‑the‑job learning. The job demands extensive standing, walking, bending, squatting, lifting, and occasional work at heights, requiring the use of PPE such as hard hats, safety glasses, ear protection, respirators, safety vests, gloves, and steel‑toe boots. Employees work in all weather conditions, at varying elevations, with moderate to high noise levels, and around a range of equipment from light to heavy. Required certifications and licenses are a driver’s license and NCCER Scaffold certification.
