About the Role
The East Region Dams Team is hiring a Dams Engineering Project Manager who will support a variety of dam safety engineering projects across multiple locations, reporting from offices such as Atlanta, Buffalo, Charlotte, and others. The role involves maintaining client relationships, managing contracts, planning and executing projects, overseeing financial and technical aspects, and leading project teams including subcontractors. In this client‑facing position, the manager will own the successful delivery of dam engineering projects and programs, drive business development, and prepare proposals for both new and existing clients. Technical responsibilities include performing analyses, design work, Potential Failure Mode Analyses, risk assessments, site inspections, construction observation, and ensuring regulatory compliance for hydraulic structures. Key duties include building and maintaining project schedules, managing resources, budgets, and risks; planning and overseeing field investigations of hydraulic structures and embankments; coordinating with multidisciplinary teams; conducting quality reviews of engineering deliverables such as calculations, reports, and drawings; mentoring junior staff; and traveling as needed for project work. • Lead dam engineering projects across the East Region, overseeing client relations, contracting, planning, and execution. • Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, resources, and risk registers. • Direct field investigations and inspections of hydraulic structures and embankments. • Review and ensure quality of engineering deliverables, including calculations, reports, and construction documents. • Mentor and provide guidance to junior engineers and staff. • Conduct business development activities and prepare proposals for new and existing clients.

What You Bring
Minimum qualifications are a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering with coursework in geotechnical, structural, or hydrology/hydraulics, at least six years of relevant experience, a Professional Engineer license in one state (or the ability to pass the PE exam within six months), a valid U.S. driver’s license, and U.S. citizenship. Preferred qualifications include a master’s degree in civil engineering or a related field, willingness to travel to project sites, experience with dam and hydraulic structure design or rehabilitation, leadership of multidisciplinary teams, completion of AECOM’s Managing Projects training, proficiency in software such as Power BI, Primavera P6, Bluebeam, Procore, or e‑Builder, and excellent verbal and written communication skills. • Hold a BS in Civil Engineering (Geotechnical/Structural/Hydrology) with at least 6 years of relevant experience. • Possess a Professional Engineer license (or obtain PE certification within 6 months) and a valid U.S. driver’s license. • Preferred: Master’s degree, dam/hydraulic structure design experience, and proficiency in Power BI, Primavera P6, Bluebeam, Procore, or e‑Builder. • Ability to travel to project sites as needed and work in a hybrid environment in Germantown, MD.
