About the Role
In this position you will develop complete cable engineering packages, review complex HVAC and HVDC designs, perform rating and system studies, and carry out installation feasibility assessments. Collaboration with civil, structural, substation and overhead line teams, as well as third‑party inspections and support for FAT/SAT activities, ensures fully integrated, compliant solutions. • Deliver full lifecycle cable engineering packages from feasibility studies to commissioning. • Review complex HVAC and HVDC cable system designs, including route development and burial risk assessments. • Perform cable rating studies: ampacity, short‑circuit forces, thermal stability, and EMI analysis. • Conduct cable pulling, jointing, cleating and installation feasibility assessments. • Coordinate with civil, structural, substation and overhead line teams for integrated solutions. • Lead third‑party inspections and support FAT/SAT, installation and commissioning activities. • Interface with manufacturers, suppliers and contractors to ensure compliance with IEC, CIGRÉ and NG‑TP standards. • Participate in client meetings, technical workshops, HAZID/HAZOP and multidisciplinary coordination.

What You Bring
We are seeking experienced Cable System Design Engineers for our Transmission & Distribution team. The role involves delivering cable system projects across multiple voltage levels for transmission system operators, distribution network operators and private developers worldwide. You will work through the full project lifecycle, from feasibility studies and concept design to detailed design, installation support and commissioning of on‑shore infrastructure. The ideal candidate has strong experience in HV/EHV cable system design engineering, including FEED work, and has operated in regulated, quality‑assured environments such as National Grid. You should understand on‑shore routing, burial risk, mechanical forces, electromagnetic, thermal and stability analysis, and have hands‑on experience with cable pulling, jointing and cleating. Proficiency with industry tools such as CYMCAP, WinCable, AutoCAD, Revit, GIS and mechanical simulation software is required. Desired qualifications include a minimum HNC in Electrical Engineering or Power Systems, NG Certified – CDAE, and Chartered Engineer status (or progress towards it).
