About the Role
We are seeking a Supervising Maintenance Technician to support facilities maintenance and asset management under the Auckland Transport AMAS contract. Reporting to the Interface Manager – AMAS, the successful candidate will help deliver high-quality outcomes that underpin essential public services. The role is central to maintaining critical station systems across the City Rail Link and Britomart Station network. It combines hands-on technical work with oversight of subcontractors in a 24/7 rail environment, aligning with Downer’s commitment to Zero Harm, reliability and service excellence. With over 26,000 people, the company delivers integrated services that keep communities thriving. • Supervise service delivery partners and subcontractors for safe, efficient maintenance. • Conduct low-level maintenance tasks (inspections, cleaning, component replacement) per AMAS Maintenance Plan. • Record work orders and asset status using the CMMS. • Plan and schedule maintenance to minimise downtime and ensure station readiness. • Foster collaboration among technicians, subcontractors, and station operations teams. • Lead continuous-improvement activities such as toolbox talks and lessons-learned reviews. • Work across three shift patterns and participate in an on-call roster.

What You Bring
Applicants should submit a CV, relevant licences and qualifications, referencing role number 726013. All successful candidates will undergo a pre-employment drug test, medical assessment and Ministry of Justice check; support is available for any required adjustments. • Hold an NZ-recognised trade qualification in Mechanical, Electrical (EWRB) or Plumbing/Drainlaying. • Experience in facilities maintenance within complex environments (transport, industrial, healthcare). • Demonstrated ability to assist and supervise subcontractors. • Strong problem-solving skills with a customer-focused mindset. • Ability to work safely under pressure and manage multiple priorities. • Knowledge of the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 and Zero Harm principles. • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook and Excel; basic CMMS experience preferred. • Hold a full NZ driver’s licence.
