About the Role

In line with our client‑focus value, the leader will own key client relationships, act as the primary contact for the Mace executive team and generate new business prospects. Delivery of assignments will be aligned with the overall vision and objectives, ensuring efficient governance and strategic outcomes. Acting with integrity, the role includes full budgetary oversight, ethical fiscal management and influencing long‑term strategy for the Queensland business unit. The State Lead will hold others accountable to Mace’s values and commit to positive impacts for people, clients and the planet. The position involves mentoring, coaching and developing project teams, fostering a diverse and inclusive environment, and leveraging Mace’s centres of excellence, knowledge hub and network to share best practice and drive innovation. • Lead and inspire a diverse team of consultants in Queensland, based in Brisbane. • Deliver high‑profile capital infrastructure programmes, ensuring safety, quality, cost, schedule and sustainability compliance. • Serve as primary relationship owner with Mace executive team and key clients, generating new business leads. • Maintain full budgetary oversight and fiscal responsibility for external programme and internal fee budgets. • Mentor, coach and develop project teams, promoting knowledge sharing and talent recruitment. • Drive strategic direction for the Queensland business, contributing to broader company strategy. • Ensure adherence to local health and safety regulations and Mace’s safety‑first standards. • Manage resource planning, recruitment, retention and people engagement across markets. • Provide project directorship on state‑significant projects and ensure legislative and policy compliance. • Lead innovative, low‑carbon and digital initiatives within the consultancy and construction sectors. • Communicate effectively with senior government officials and stakeholders, presenting with gravitas.

What You Bring

We are seeking a dynamic State Lead for Queensland, based in our Brisbane office, to lead and inspire a diverse team of consultants and leaders. The role plays a pivotal part in delivering high‑profile infrastructure projects, driving commercial success and shaping strategic direction in Queensland. It requires strong client focus, proven commercial acumen and extensive experience overseeing large capital programmes. Candidates must demonstrate visible leadership, P&L responsibility, extensive sector experience and a proven track‑record delivering major programmes. Required qualifications include tertiary education in engineering or the built environment, relevant construction certifications, and professional memberships such as RICS, CIOB, APM, ICE, MAPM, MRICS or MICE. • Hold relevant professional memberships (e.g., RICS, CIOB, APM, ICE) and certifications (CSCS, MAPM, MRICS, MICE). • Demonstrate extensive experience delivering major programmes through all phases with strong commercial acumen. • Possess advanced expertise in programme management, governance, risk and opportunity management. • Exhibit exceptional analytical and problem‑solving skills across estimating, scheduling, procurement and contract administration.
