About the Role
Key responsibilities include managing the financial health of projects, developing and maintaining budget and equipment forecasts, and allocating estimates in the financial system. The manager will determine cost codes, approve invoices, oversee subcontractor and supplier contracts, and handle billings and contract buyouts. Additional duties cover 3‑D coordination, commissioning planning and execution, and leading all closeout activities such as O&M manuals and training. The position also supervises Assistant Project Managers and Project Engineers, assigns work, approves timecards, and serves as the primary point of contact for owners and on‑site representatives. • Control project budgets, forecasts, and owner billings. • Approve invoices, assign cost codes, and manage change orders. • Supervise subcontractor and supplier contracts and 3‑D coordination. • Lead commissioning, startup plans, and functional testing. • Direct project closeout, including O&M manuals and training. • Mentor and assign work to Assistant PMs and Project Engineers. • Serve as primary liaison with owners and on‑site representatives. • Ensure compliance with quality, safety, risk, and regulatory standards.

What You Bring
Mortenson is seeking an experienced MEP Project Manager I who can interact with staff at all levels in a dynamic environment. The role provides overall direction and leadership on mechanical, electrical, and plumbing‑dominant projects or MEP scopes within medium to large ventures. The manager is responsible for quality, timeliness, safety, and mentoring the project team while developing strong customer relationships. Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in construction, civil, architectural, mechanical, electrical engineering, or equivalent experience, and bring at least six years of construction management experience, preferably with a mechanical or electrical contractor. Required skills include detail‑oriented project organization, a basic understanding of construction law, intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office and related web applications, and strong professional and customer‑service attitudes. A valid driver’s license and U.S. work authorization without sponsorship are also mandatory. • Hold a bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field and ≥6 years construction management experience. • Proficient in Microsoft Office and project web applications. • Possess a valid driver’s license and U.S. work authorization.

The base salary ranges from $113,500 to $170,300, with regional adjustments for locations such as Denver, Chicago, Seattle, Portland, and Washington, D.C., and eligibility for the company incentive plan.
