About the Role
Core duties involve operating various construction cranes to transport equipment and materials, planning and executing lifts, inspecting equipment, and ensuring safety throughout operations. Operators may follow signaler directions, assess the work area for hazards, and complete required paperwork such as inspection reports. • Run friction and rough‑terrain cranes to relocate heavy equipment and materials. • Plan, coordinate, and safely execute lift operations. • Conduct crane inspections and complete required safety documentation. • Follow signaler instructions and evaluate the work area for hazards. • Use proper hand signals and perform load‑ and lift‑planning calculations. • Follow all company safety regulations and procedures. • Perform physical tasks such as lifting up to 50 lb, signaling, and wearing required PPE.

What You Bring
This role is a maintenance position without per diem. Industrial Heavy Equipment Operators will operate one or more cranes to move heavy equipment between locations, often changing altitude. Operators must be capable of handling both friction and rough‑terrain (RT) cranes. Candidates must hold current NCCCO certification for the specific crane type, possess a valid DOT physical, and have at least five years of crane‑operating experience. Additional requirements include a valid driver’s license (subject to motor‑vehicle record check), reliable transportation, and all necessary tools. Required knowledge includes experience with cranes such as Manitowoc 2250, 16000, 4100, Link belt 218, Kabelco 2500, and RT cranes ranging from 25‑ton to 140‑ton capacity, basic mechanical skills, load and lift planning, and proficiency in hand signals. The role also expects reliability, accountability, and the ability to follow instructions and safety regulations. Preferred qualifications are current employment with Zachry or Zachry‑ROF status, prior experience with Zachry Industrial, Inc., familiarity with all listed crane models, and formal technical education. The position reports to no direct supervisor and offers a safe, drug‑free, equal‑opportunity workplace. Physical demands include prolonged sitting, verbal communication, frequent hand and arm movements for signaling and equipment control, and occasional lifting or carrying of up to 50 lb. Workers must pass visual acuity tests, possess good dexterity, and wear required PPE such as hard hat, safety glasses, ear protection, respirator, safety vest, gloves, and leather boots. • Keep NCCCO crane certification current and maintain a valid DOT physical. • Bring at least five years of crane‑operating experience. • Hold a valid driver’s license and have reliable transportation. • Know and operate listed crane models (Manitowoc, Link belt, Kabelco, etc.) with basic mechanical aptitude. • Carry required personal tools, including a rain coat and rain boots. • Preferred: current Zachry or Zachry‑ROF employment, prior Zachry Industrial experience, and formal technical education.
