About the Role
Drivers operate heavy‑duty trucks equipped with front, side or rear‑end lift attachments, transporting waste or recyclable containers that can exceed 1,000 lb. Responsibilities vary by line of business: commercial drivers handle container pick‑ups, residential drivers collect household waste, and roll‑off drivers load and move large open‑top containers. All drivers must perform precise backing maneuvers and navigate congested roadways, driveways and alleys. • Operate vehicle per WM safety, OSHA, DOT, and all applicable laws. • Perform pre‑ and post‑trip vehicle inspections and complete DVIR reports. • Report unsafe conditions, incidents, accidents, and service issues to Operations Manager or Dispatch immediately. • Attend required training, briefings, and meetings. • Collaborate with Operations Manager to improve route efficiency and share best practices. • Notify management of service interruptions such as closed streets, heavy receptacles, or safety hazards. • Communicate customer requests to Operations Manager or Dispatch. • Dump all receptacles and leave the site clean and free of debris. • Follow assigned routes, complete end‑of‑day documentation, and check‑out procedures. • Perform duties as scheduled and assist other drivers to meet customer needs.
