About the Role

The Shipping & Receiving Lead will oversee daily logistics in a regulated environment, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant movement of temperature‑controlled, hazardous, and controlled materials. The role serves as the primary point of control for carrier activity, manages inbound and outbound flow, labor coordination, and critical documentation, and must meet monthly SLA deliverables while maintaining audit readiness per DOT/IATA requirements. • Own day‑to‑day carrier traffic management by coordinating inbound and outbound trucks, directing check‑in procedures, and enforcing site security requirements. • Lead daily shipping and receiving activities for domestic and international shipments, ensuring accurate paperwork matching, proper labeling, and on‑time staging. • Maintain cold‑chain integrity for refrigerated, frozen, and ultra‑low temperature products by minimizing exposure times and verifying temperature monitoring devices. • Ensure continuous audit readiness by maintaining accurate chain‑of‑custody controls and compliance with DOT, IATA, and site SOPs. • Meet monthly SLA deliverables including on‑time departures, temperature compliance, and documentation accuracy while identifying improvement opportunities. • Lead and train shipping/receiving staff and temporary labor on traffic flow, cold‑chain handling, hazmat awareness, and controlled substance procedures. • Act as escalation point for carrier issues and operational disruptions while consistently enforcing policies, SOPs, and safety standards.

What You Bring

Candidates must hold a valid driver’s license, a high‑school diploma (associate or bachelor preferred), and at least three years of shipping and receiving experience in a regulated or chemical setting, as well as current DOT/IATA certification. Proficiency with computerized inventory systems, cold‑chain logistics, and strong leadership and communication skills are required; preferred experience includes CMMS, pharmaceutical or biotech environments, managing temporary labor, and knowledge of DEA and customs procedures. • Valid driver’s license and high school diploma or equivalent (associate or bachelor’s degree preferred). • Minimum 3+ years of shipping and receiving experience in a regulated or chemical environment. • Current DOT/IATA certification and training (non‑negotiable). • Proficiency with computerized materials, inventory, and tracking systems. • Experience with temperature‑controlled and cold‑chain logistics operations. • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills for team management. • Experience using CMMS for facilities maintenance, work orders, and asset tracking. • Background in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or similar regulated industries. • Experience managing temporary labor and coordinating with multiple carriers. • Knowledge of controlled substance procedures and DEA compliance requirements. • Familiarity with international shipping documentation and customs procedures. • Previous supervisory experience in logistics or warehouse operations.

Benefits

The position is onsite in San Diego, CA, on a day shift with a salary range of $60,000‑$62,500 and does not provide visa sponsorship.
