About the Role

Primary duties include installing, maintaining, and removing overhead transmission conductors and equipment. Linemen must be able to climb poles, perform hot‑stick work on energized high‑voltage lines, and operate safely in inclement weather and during emergency callouts. • Install, maintain, and remove overhead transmission conductors and equipment. • Perform hot‑stick work on energized high‑voltage lines and climb poles in all weather conditions. • Respond to after‑hour emergency callouts for transmission line issues. • Operate bucket trucks, digger derricks, trenchers, and other utility line crew equipment.

What You Bring

Candidates must hold a high school diploma or equivalent and be a qualified Journeyman Lineman with knowledge of distribution and transmission construction, maintenance, and operations. Required skills include strong communication, teamwork, safety compliance, experience with bucket trucks, digger derricks, trenchers, and the ability to meet driver qualification standards with a valid CDL Class A. Preferred qualifications include two or more years of transmission line construction and maintenance experience, familiarity with track vehicles and wire‑tensioning equipment, and a technical school lineman degree. • Meet driver qualification standards and hold a valid CDL Class A license. • Hold a high school diploma (or equivalent) and be a qualified Journeyman Lineman. • Demonstrate strong communication, teamwork, and safety compliance. • Possess the physical ability to lift, climb, work in confined spaces, and handle routine line‑work labor. • Preferred: two or more years of transmission line construction and maintenance experience. • Preferred: experience with track vehicles, wire‑tensioning equipment, and a technical school lineman degree.

Xcel Energy is seeking one or more Transmission Journeyman Linemen for its Black Avenue Service Center in Eau Claire, WI. The position offers a starting base pay of $60.31 per hour (2025 rate) with regular hours from 6:30 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Thursday, and will be posted from January 9 to January 29, 2026.
