About the Role

Reporting to the Contract Manager, the Power Technician will deliver expert support for protection systems and SCADA maintenance and installations, directly bolstering reliability and performance for our clients and helping keep communities safe and connected. • Maintain a current EWRB Electrical Registration and practising licence.

Although initially based in New Zealand’s Manawatū region, Downer Energy New Zealand holds service and construction contracts at project sites across the country. This role is suited to someone happy to work away from home, travel NZ and work on major renewable projects; applicants should consider both short‑term and long‑term travel as a normal part of the working week. The recruitment office will be closed from 24 December 2025 to 8 January 2026. • Hold a NZ Certificate in Electrical Supply (Power Technician) Level 5 or equivalent trade, tertiary or diploma qualification. • Possess hands‑on experience with power systems and electrical protection work to industry standards. • Hold a full NZ Class 1 driver’s licence. • Demonstrated experience commissioning, testing and maintaining high‑voltage protection systems, substation plant and HV/LV assets. • Experience installing and maintaining SCADA and communication equipment. • Extensive knowledge of power‑industry test equipment usage. • Tool‑of‑trade vehicle supplied by the company.
