About the Role
The Blaster Helper assists with drilling support, explosive handling under direct supervision, ventilation awareness, and blast area control. Primary duties include loading holes with explosives, preparing and detonating charges, and performing hand scaling and markup of drilling/bolting patterns while working from a man basket 25‑50 feet high. The role also involves using hand and power tools, transporting explosives safely, maintaining and inspecting blasting equipment, and supporting the blasting team as needed. • Load explosives into drill holes and prepare detonations. • Perform hand scaling and markup of drilling/bolting patterns from a man basket 25‑50 ft high. • Use hand and power tools; transport explosives safely. • Conduct routine maintenance and inspections of blasting equipment. • Ensure compliance with MSHA regulations, site blasting plans, and safety policies. • Support the blasting team and work toward obtaining a PA blasting license. • Work flexible schedules in various weather conditions and pass all background, drug/alcohol, and health screenings.

What You Bring
Candidates must demonstrate safe handling and transport of explosives, a strong understanding of safety protocols and MSHA regulations, and excellent communication and teamwork skills. Physical capability is required to stand, sit, push, pull, and lift up to 75 pounds, and to work in variable weather and a flexible schedule. Applicants must pass a pre‑employment physical, drug/alcohol screen, background check, and ongoing regulated testing, and must be able to obtain a PA blasting license. The position is safety‑sensitive and operates primarily in an underground mine with moving mechanical equipment and elevated noise levels. Successful candidates must meet all regulatory and company safety requirements, including a Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms background check. • Safely handle explosives and demonstrate strong knowledge of safety protocols. • Exhibit excellent communication, teamwork, and physical ability to lift up to 75 lb.
