About the Role
The Operations Manager – Hauling leads collections activities for commercial, industrial, and residential customers within a business unit, overseeing container delivery and pickup across a geographically dispersed area. The role manages a team of Operations Supervisors, Dispatchers, Operations Clerks, Drivers, and Helpers responsible for the route system for commercial, roll‑off, and residential customers. Working with the General Manager and other unit managers, the Operations Manager executes the local market strategy, aligning with the area’s overall operating and marketing plans and tactical initiatives to drive functional excellence and meet budget goals. The manager is accountable for hiring, training, coaching, and performance management of staff, setting supervisory goals, and resolving safety issues and claims. They implement plans that complement the business unit’s strategic and operating plan, champion tactical initiatives to enhance customer experience, drive growth, and optimize profitability. Ensuring maximum productivity, the manager oversees commercial, roll‑off, and residential route management systems, establishes productivity goals, and monitors labor hours and disposal expenses. They interact with customers and government agencies to address service concerns and maintain regulatory compliance. In addition, they lead safety and accident‑prevention programs, maintain a safe work environment, and enforce loss‑control measures. The Operations Manager leads compliance with environmental, operational, regulatory, safety, accounting, and ethical standards, approves department expenses, and manages the operations budget, including purchase orders and vendor pricing. They develop a best‑in‑class team culture, drive performance and talent development, and foster best‑practice sharing. Building strong relationships with government, community, and environmental groups is also a key responsibility.

Minimum qualifications are a High School Diploma or GED and at least two years of supervisory or management experience, or participation in Republic Services’ management trainee program. The position’s pay range is $90,800 to $124,850, depending on locality, and includes an annual incentive target of 20% of base salary.
