About the Role

• Conduct local and national bridge inspections and prepare detailed inspection reports. • Perform structural load rating calculations for inspected bridges. • Collaborate with bridge design and multidisciplinary teams, applying structural engineering and detailing techniques. • Support the bridge design group with structural design development and analysis. • Assist the lead inspector and undertake additional duties as required. • Maintain physical capability to conduct field inspections of bridges, culverts, tunnels, hydraulic structures, and related assets, including ladder work, boat operation, and confined‑space tasks.

What You Bring

HDR Engineering is seeking a Bridge Inspector EIT/Coordinator for the National Infrastructure Inspection Team. The role involves conducting local and national bridge inspections, developing inspection reports, performing load rating calculations, and providing structural design support during inspection downtime. Candidates must possess the physical ability to work on bridges, culverts, tunnels, hydraulic structures, and related assets in varied field conditions. • Hold an MS in Civil/Structural Engineering (preferred) and be an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or able to obtain it promptly. • Bring at least two years of bridge/structural inspection and design experience. • Complete NHI 130055 Safety Inspection of In‑Service Bridges training (preferred). • Possess a valid driver’s license and ability to travel for multi‑night field assignments. • Adapt to environmental hazards such as extreme temperatures, water, heights, and wildlife. • Demonstrate strong communication skills and teamwork in multidisciplinary environments. • Show commitment to HDR’s employee‑owned culture and inclusive workplace. • Possess a Bachelor’s degree and proficiency in MS Office, MathCAD, AutoCAD, LARSA, and prestressed concrete design. • Familiar with Bluebeam Revu and engineering software such as LEAP Bridge Enterprise, FB‑MultiPier, LPile, AASHTOWare BrR, midas Civil, CSiBridge, RM Bridge, spColumn, STLBridgeLRFD, or STLBridge. • Experience with Bentley OpenBridge Modeler and/or Autodesk Infraworks and Civil3D.
