About the Role

The Superintendent will plan, forecast, lead, direct and coordinate the work of Self‑Perform Operations staff, subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring that work adheres to the contracted scope for safety, schedule, quality and production tracking. The role also involves supervising trade labor within the assigned area. Key responsibilities include sequencing work to meet project schedules, establishing weekly production targets with foremen, managing logistics, quality control and staffing levels, and resolving onsite issues related to procedures, design clarification, labor and equipment. The superintendent will develop and enforce a SPO safety plan, supervise forepersons, handle field issues with owners and architects, manage monthly estimates, payrolls, material invoicing and subcontractor payments, and ensure compliance with contract documents and procurement processes. Additional duties involve constructability reviews, bidding assistance, and the use of lean construction methods such as the Last Planner System. • Sequence work to align with project schedule and productivity targets. • Establish weekly production requirements with foremen and track results. • Plan and oversee scheduling, delivery, logistics, quality control, and staffing levels. • Supervise trade labor and forepersons, providing performance appraisals. • Develop and implement a Self‑Perform Operations safety plan compliant with Turner standards. • Resolve onsite issues related to procedures, design clarifications, labor and equipment. • Manage monthly estimates, payroll, material invoices, and subcontractor payment applications. • Ensure installation complies with contract documents and oversee material procurement. • Conduct constructability reviews, assist in bidding, and apply lean construction methods such as the Last Planner System.

The position is located in Baltimore, MD, within Turner Construction’s Maryland division. It is a regular, salaried exempt role classified as an experienced superintendent in the construction family. Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree and have at least four years of superintendent experience in the construction industry. Required knowledge includes building construction methods, scheduling, cost control, contract documents, lean principles and the ability to read drawings and specifications. Proficiency in MS Office and EH&S applications, strong leadership and interpersonal skills, and the ability to meet the physical demands of the role are also essential. The position requires occasional climbing of stairs and ladders, lifting up to 50 lb, and working in typical construction site conditions such as exposure to moving equipment, noise, weather, and potential electrical hazards. The salary range for this role is estimated between $83,530 and $160,185 annually, complemented by Turner’s flexible benefits package.
