About the Role

The Marine Emergency Response Technician performs operational functions related to emergency response hazardous and non‑hazardous spill clean‑up projects in a safe, efficient manner and in compliance with all applicable regulations. The role also includes day‑to‑day marine service work such as pre‑booming, Average Most Probable Discharge (AMPD) services, line‑handling, preventative maintenance, basic equipment repair, training, and spill response exercises. Key duties include placing health and safety as the top priority, assisting team members on labor‑intensive tasks in potentially dirty, physically demanding, and harsh weather conditions, and deploying and operating both light and heavy marine equipment such as workboats, skimmers, pumps, blowers, cranes, and vacuum transfer systems. The technician loads and unloads equipment, booms, and anchors, attaches and deploys booms of various sizes, follows basic seamanship and marine safety principles, completes required paperwork, and maintains inventory, equipment, and work areas.

What You Bring

Preferred qualifications feature knowledge of gasoline and diesel marine engines, outboard motors, hydraulic power units, oil‑skimming systems, and welding practices. The candidate should be able to diagnose common malfunctions, use hand and shop tools accurately, demonstrate thoroughness and attention to detail, and effectively prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities.
