About the Role
• Select pipe size and materials per specifications. • Perform various arc welding processes (GMAW, GTAW, SMAW, FCAW, SAW, etc.). • Layout, align, and fit components in multiple positions. • Bolt, clamp, and weld metal components in flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead positions; tack weld as needed. • Connect welding power cables and set parameters (amperage, voltage, polarity, pulse). • Install electrodes or feed consumable wire into welding equipment. • Initiate power supply to generate welding arc. • Guide welding electrode/gun to produce proper fusion and bead quality. • Apply filler rod, clean, degrease, preheat, and cut workpieces; repair defects and remove excess weld material. • Inspect welds for bead size and specification compliance. • Load, transport, and unload materials, tools, and equipment. • Assist in lifting and positioning materials during installation. • Perform minor tool and equipment maintenance and cleaning. • Provide assistance to other mechanics. • Use respiratory protection as required. • Pass performance and certification tests; only perform approved procedures. • Observe and follow all safety and project regulations. • Make decisions based on measurable criteria. • Apply basic mathematics to solve problems. • Plan work and select appropriate tools. • Visualize objects in three dimensions from drawings. • Identify differences in size, shape, and form of components.

What You Bring
The role requires certification in multi‑process pipe welding, with proficiency in SMAW, GTAW, and GMAW, and may involve x‑ray inspections. The welder will layout, align, and weld fabricated, cast, and forged components to assemble structural forms such as machinery frames, tanks, pressure vessels, furnace shells, buildings, and pipe according to blueprints and metallurgy. A high school diploma or equivalent plus relevant experience is required. The candidate must possess knowledge of standard industry concepts, practices, and procedures, and work under immediate supervision following established guidelines without needing independent judgment. Physical demands include standing (50%), walking (20%), and sitting (30%); lifting, carrying, and pushing up to 35 lb; occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, handling, and fingering tasks as indicated by frequency symbols. • Plan equipment layout and welding approach using knowledge of geometry and metal properties.
