About the Role
The engineer will oversee safety initiatives, collaborate with various stakeholders, and ensure compliance with industry standards and internal policies throughout the project lifecycle. • Implement and administer site‑specific safety programs and training across multiple construction projects. • Document, track, and analyze safety violations, injury statistics, and loss‑control data. • Lead OSHA reporting, conduct safety audits, and review subcontractor safety submittals. • Serve as a resource for safety issues, attend meetings, and assist with major incident analysis. • Coordinate with client safety personnel, union representatives, and insurance risk engineers. • Ensure maintenance and inspection of safety equipment and foster relationships across organizational levels.

What You Bring
Mortenson is hiring a Senior Safety Engineer I for its Civil Operating Group to lead the Zero Injury Safety program across U.S. construction sites, providing a safe environment for all on‑site personnel. The role involves extensive nationwide travel with scheduled home rotations and does not include visa sponsorship. Applicants should possess relevant safety education or certifications combined with extensive construction experience, a valid driver’s license, and strong organizational and communication skills. • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in safety/occupational health or a high school diploma with CHST, OSHA 500, plus ≥10 years construction experience (≥6 years in safety). • Possess a valid driver’s license, detail‑oriented mindset, and proficiency in Microsoft Office and safety software. • Travel up to 100% nationwide with home rotations every three weeks; visa sponsorship is not provided.

Compensation ranges from $89,500 to $120,800, with location‑based adjustments, and includes eligibility for an incentive plan.
