About the Role
The role involves certifying and welding multi‑process pipe using SMAW, GTAW, and GMAW techniques, with possible X‑ray inspection. The welder will layout, align, and assemble fabricated, cast, and forged components into structural forms such as frames, tanks, pressure vessels, furnace shells, buildings, and piping according to blueprints and metallurgy specifications. • Select pipe type and size according to specifications. • Perform various welding methods (GMAW, GTAW, SMAW, FCAW, SAW, etc.). • Layout, position, align, and fit components in multiple orientations. • Connect welding equipment, set amperage, voltage, slope, and pulse per procedure. • Prepare and insert electrodes or consumable wire, then start power supply. • Strike arc, guide electrode or gun, and control arc length, speed, and movement for proper fusion. • Apply filler rod, clean, degrease, and repair weld joints as needed. • Examine welds for bead size and specification compliance. • Load, transport, and unload materials, tools, and equipment. • Assist with lifting, positioning, and securing workpieces during installation. • Perform minor maintenance and cleaning of tools and equipment. • Observe and comply with all safety and project rules. • Work within precise accuracy limits and apply basic mathematics to solve problems. • Visualize three‑dimensional objects from plans and drawings. • Compare size, shape, and form differences in lines, figures, and objects.

What You Bring
Physical demands include standing, walking, and sitting for extended periods, lifting and carrying up to 35 lb, and performing frequent tasks such as climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, handling, and fingering. The job may require the use of respiratory protection and adherence to safety and certification standards. • Plan layouts, assembly, and welding processes using knowledge of geometry and metal properties. • Bolt, clamp, and weld metal components, including flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions. • Pass employer performance and certification tests. • Require high school diploma or equivalent with relevant experience; work under immediate supervision following established guidelines.
