About the Role

The Center Nurse role oversees health services for the Gulfport Job Corps Center, including medical, dental, mental health, and wellness programs, ensuring compliance with government, corporate, and management directives. Although primarily a day‑shift position, occasional after‑hours response may be required. The position is funded through June 30, 2026, with continuation dependent on future funding approvals. Key duties involve planning and coordinating all health‑service activities, developing and monitoring the departmental budget, and creating or revising policies and procedures. The nurse will manage comprehensive student wellness programs, maintain injury and health records, serve as the disability coordinator, and oversee accident reporting and risk mitigation. Additional responsibilities include supervising health‑related students, representing health services on the Wolverine Assembly, coordinating with external agencies, and ensuring a safe, harassment‑free environment. • Plan, coordinate, and manage all health‑service activities for students. • Develop and control the health department budget and financial expenditures. • Create, update, and enforce health policies, procedures, and training programs. • Oversee medical, dental, mental‑health, and wellness programs, including weight control and smoking cessation. • Maintain accurate student health records and comply with data‑integrity guidelines. • Act as disability coordinator, managing accommodation plans and interdisciplinary team efforts. • Review and process injury reports, identify hazards, and implement corrective actions. • Supervise health‑related students and represent the department on the Wolverine Assembly. • Coordinate care with external agencies, hospitals, parents, and admissions counselors. • Ensure a safe, harassment‑free environment and uphold compliance with corporate and Job Corps regulations. • Provide mentorship, modeling, and skill development to promote student career success.

What You Bring

Applicants must hold a current RN license in the state of employment, have at least three years of relevant experience with one year in a supervisory role, and possess a valid driver’s license and clean driving record. Successful completion of a background check and drug test is required; a bachelor’s degree in a health‑related field is preferred. • Hold a current RN license, minimum three years of experience (including supervisory), and a valid driver’s license. • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in a health‑related field.
