About the Role
• Serve as primary author on large technical reports, research designs, and other technical documents. • Conduct content edits of technical reports and site forms. • Oversee field research, data collection, inventory, analysis, and final report production in accordance with the QA/QC plan. • Train and mentor staff on NRHP eligibility, research design implementation, technical reporting, and site recording protocols. • Take initiative, resolve problems, and create improved procedures for efficient task completion. • Foster a collaborative team environment across local and other SWCA offices as part of One SWCA. • Maintain good working relationships with state and federal agency contacts and clients. • Manage budgets, prepare proposals, interact with clients, and oversee staff as needed. • Drive compliance with safety policies and reporting requirements to ensure team safety. • Leverage a proven client network and reputation for delivering high‑quality service. • Commit to scientific integrity and high‑quality work products for all clientele. • Uphold the Mission, Vision, and Values of SWCA. • Work independently and oversee projects in collaboration with Field Directors, Project Managers, and Team Leads.

What You Bring
• Demonstrate proficiency in project management and effective delegation. • Hold a master’s degree in Archaeology or Anthropology. • Have at least eight years of archaeology fieldwork experience, with academic or research supervisory experience acceptable in part. • Possess thorough knowledge of NEPA, Section 106, and the Texas Antiquities Code. • Be listed as a Registered Professional Archaeologist or qualified for RPA status. • Experience editing report content and managing project schedules and budgets for cultural resources. • Be able to travel approximately 20 percent of the time.

The Austin‑based position offers a salary range of $81,545.10 to $106,289.82 per year, depending on experience, qualifications, location, and other lawful factors.
